The Tissot brand was born when Artisan watchsmith Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile began their work together in the year 1853. While originally from Switzerland, the duo found commercial success internationally before merging with Omega watches later on in 1930. At the time, Tissot watches were famous for their hardiness in the face of the elements, an oft-sought after need for sportsmen at the time who wished to look and feel their best at all times. As of 1983, Tissot went on to join the Swatch group as one of their subsidiaries.
Strength in Design
As heavyweight gamechangers since the watch industry’s inception, Tissot is credited with several key contributions to the craft. They were the first to successfully mass-produce pocket watches, creating a quality product made accessible by the latest technology of the day.
Tissot also were trailblazers in the way of normalizing the use of more than a few avant garde materials in their wares, much to the refreshment of consumers at the time, desperate for something cutting edge. Among them were mother of pearl, wood, and, arguably most importantly, plastic, a precursor for many iconic designs to follow.
Precision & Perfection: Tissot Collections
Lovers of Tissot will no doubt already be familiar with their legendary T-Classic series, updating the styles we loved in the past and modernizing them to fit perfectly into the present day. While each of them embody everything Tissot stands for as a company, the many diverse sub-collections it contains span the entire spectrum, providing a match swimmingly for every type of personality.
The sport watches Tissot is known best for will be found in the T-Sport line, all of them ideal for outdoor activities or anywhere else life takes you. For a luxe upgrade, the T-Gold series will have plenty to offer - all of the familiar styles you already love, gilded with toned gold in every shade imaginable.
Hardly one to limit themselves, Tissot does plenty for women seeking a life-changing timepiece, as well. Feminized versions of all of their collections for men streamline the face, lighten the load, and subtly soften the normally imposing presence of their male counterparts. Their Heritage collection toes this line, adding a whimsical spin to what is ordinarily serious, stoic, and impenetrably strong.
